Stag weekends afloat - boating breaks on the Canals or Norfolk Broads

Is it time to start organising the groom's stag do as part of their pre-wedding celebrations? We offer short breaks on canal boats across the UK, and motor cruisers on the Norfolk Broads, with a wide selection of bases which are ideal for exploring a city or place of interest. Or for a real stag do with a difference, enjoy a rural cruise through the Great British countryside, working the locks and navigating your hire boat under bridges, over aqueducts and through tunnels along the way.

City Spotlight: A Stag break to Birmingham:

One of our most popular locations for a stag do is to hire a canal boat to cruise into Birmingham City Centre, home to a variety of bars, nightclubs & restaurants. There is also a host of activities in the city that you can plan to combine with your boating break, such as paintballing or go karting. Hiring a narrow boat from either Tardebigge or Alvechurch will take you into the city in under 7 hours, with no locks to navigate - just a handful of tunnels.

City Spotlight: A boating Stag do to Oxford:

Ideal for parties located in the south wishing for an easy commute for a short break. We offer two locations which would allow you to cruise to Oxford on a short break holiday. If you are restricted on time, start on the River Thames from our 'Oxford' base which is under 3 hours cruise to the city and the locks are manned; Or for a more energetic cruise into the city, start on the South Oxford Canal at Lower Heyford, which is approximately 7-8 hours cruising from Oxford and with 10 locks to navigate each way, this would be a fairly active weekend break!

Other locations to consider include Reading, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Worcester, Warwick, Coventry or Stoke-on-Trent.

Boating on the Norfolk Broads offers a completely alternative stag do experience. Cruising on the Broads is more relaxed than on the UK Canals as there are no locks to navigate and the boats available to hire are motor cruisers rather than a traditional narrowboat. You can motor from one village to another, and Norwich is easily accessed by public transport from Hoveton/Wroxham, if you fancied a larger destination for a night out.
